KINKY

An intelligent manifestation of rock, electronic, and Mexican rhythms, Kinky produces riveting sounds and mixes that have earned them a reputation for being musical pioneers. Unique and authentic, the five-member group returns to the Luckman to play hits from their most recent albums, as well as unreleased songs.

RAIFORD ROGERS MODERN BALLET

Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “bracingly contemporary,” Raiford Rogers Modern Ballet is an inspiring ensemble of dancers that breaks the traditional mold and reinvigorates this classic medium. The cutting-edge company returns to the Luckman Fine Arts Complex to perform new and classic works from their lauded repertoire. LJO: TRIBUTE TO SONNY ROLLINS


Sonny Rollins is a prolific American jazz legend. Widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians, his compositions have become classic jazz standards. Rollins has collaborated and recorded with jazz masters: Charlie Parker, J.J. Johnson, and Thelonious Monk; Miles Davis said of Sonny Rollins, “He was an aggressive, innovative player.” The Luckman Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the Grammy Award-winning jazz icon.

NORTHWEST DANCE PROJECT


Founded in 2004, the Northwest Dance Project is dedicated to the creation and performance of innovative and contemporary new dance works. Led by acclaimed Artistic Director Sarah Slipper, NWDP performs an all-original repertoire from a select roster of accomplished choreographers as well as promising new talents. The Oregonian says NWDP performs with “joy and sharply honed skill.”
